More favorites from Banner & Harry's session.  A bit of romance...

Passion, mystery... I absolutely love this one!

Banner's orange heels turn on the heat!

I love the sweetness of this photo below... and the sun setting against all of those windowpanes.

Traintroy.jpg
This one below was really fun to shoot.  I wanted to play with proportion & composition, and I just love how this turned out!  I just kept asking Harry to "back up a little more..."

Banner's expression and stance is fabulous, she looks like a superhero...
strong, confident, fearless.  I love it!

Thank you Harry & Banner for sharing your story with me.  I really loved getting to tell it through photographs.  Your session was absolutely a blast!

What's your story?

I'm a sucker for a good love story...

Train1.jpg
When Banner was 5 years old, her family was stationed at an Air Force base in northern Italy, in a small town near Lake Garda.  They lived in the same apartment complex as the owner of a restaurant, and once a week, her family and a group of friends would meet at the restaurant to have dinner.  She has childhood photos standing in the old buildings (built in the 1500's) amongst wine barrels and cows on the farm.  The restaurant, Mirrabello, and the family that owns it are still near & dear to her heart.

Train2.jpg
The first time she met Harry, she was bussing tables at Mirrabello during a visit back to Desenzano.  One of the owner's daughters, and whom Banner used to play with as a young child, asked her to bring drinks to Harry's table because they were English speaking (he is from the UK).  There were about 10 people there with him, but Chiara pointed her in Harry's direction because she knew that they both enjoy rock climbing.  She was right, and they hit it off immediately.  But that was that.   She returned to her life in the U.S.

Train3.jpg
A year later, Banner returned.  Traveling to Italy this time was for a much needed break, an escape.  A time start a new, fresh chapter in her life.  One night, Harry and a friend came into Mirrabella after a snowboarding trip for a late dinner.

Train4.jpg
(insert falling in love here...)

Train5.jpg
...and the rest is history!  After many phone calls, emails, visits and flight miles, Harry moved to the USA, and they were married this past spring.

Train6.jpg
True story.

Driving by this historic train station in Salt Lake City this summer, I thought of my own honeymoon, where we spent 4 weeks traveling by train in Italy.  There is something romantic and quaintly old fashioned about train travel...  It made me think of Harry and Banner's story, and I knew they were the perfect couple for this location.  Their session was really fun because of the energy they brought to it.  They were incredibly relaxed and natural in front of the camera, and what I really loved was that you could really see how they feel about each other every time their eyes met.

I want to thank a couple of good friends of mine that assisted with this photo shoot...

"Rain on a wedding day is considered good luck - with the idea that a wet knot is harder to untie... since marriage is often referred to as tying the knot."

Brooke and Curtis planned a beautiful outdoor wedding on the Gallivan Center Plaza in downtown Salt Lake City.  The skies threatened rain, the Weather Channel predicted scattered storms, and our afternoon view out the window of the bridal suite looked like this...

Cousino1.jpg
We were blessed with sunny skies just prior to the ceremony... enough time for the bride & groom to have their "First Look", and to shoot formal pictures of the wedding party and families.  The bridal party made it back out of sight... and then, before you could say umbrella, the rain came down.   And, I mean it poured!

There was a mad scramble to bring all of the chairs under the trellice, and the wedding guests took cover.  At one point I counted 30 umbrellas up in the air, not including the parasols Brooke and her attendants were carrying.  I worried for Brooke & Curtis and all of their plans, until I saw Brooke come down the aisle with her father... look at that smile!   What's a little rain anyway, right?

Cousino4.jpg

Cousino5.jpg
The way that Brooke and Curtis looked at each other during the ceremony was just heartwarming.  True love, best friends... surrounded by family and friends in their moment.

Cousinowedding.jpg
Shortly after the ceremony, the rain stopped and the sun came out... in time for guests to enjoy cocktails and dinner on the plaza.

I was very excited to see all of Brooke's planning come to life.  Their wedding colors of Green, Black and White were so vibrant and were reflected in so many different elements... right down to the candy treats!

The happy couple...

Congratulations Brooke & Curtis!  Cheers to a long and happy life together!

The wedding ceremony definitely wasn't "dampened" by the rain. Brooke and Curtis, you radiated enough love to create your own sunshine! What a beautiful day to remember.

Brooke's wedding gown is so beautiful!  She had the tailor add this side bustle option, to show off some of the extra detail of her gown with a quick button.

Brook3a.jpg
A gorgeous bride to be!

Brooke4.jpg
Don't you just love the laced detail of the back of Brooke's gown!  Stunning!

Brooke5.jpg
I fell for these windows of this old factory the moment I drove past them & couldn't wait to shoot a session with them as the backdrop.
And just as we were thinking it would be so cool to have a train come through the scene...

there it was...

Gregg & Denise chose Great Guana Cay in the Abacos islands of the Bahamas as the location for their destination wedding.  The invitations read:

"We've decided on a destination wedding... and the location is as unique as our love!

So, in our island lovin', sandal wearin', sand in your suit, boat until the sun goes down style... we would love to invite you to join us for a week in paradise!"

GDWchairs.jpg
The ceremony took place on the beach at Orchid Bay, with stunning views of the ocean and barrier reef.  The wind picked up, and clouds darkened as the guests were seated.  Rain drops chased everyone under the shelter of the pavillion for just a few minutes, but the skies cleared and the sun peeked out just long enough for the ceremony.

GDW2.jpg
Everyone smiled as Gregg watched Denise walk down the sand aisle.  He bit his lip as their eyes met and gave her a big smile.

GDW3.jpg
Gregg told a group of us the night before the wedding how he first met Denise.  How he saw her from a distance, looking cute in her hard hat.  He knew.  He told us he had a hankering for her.  "awwwwwwwww..." we all exclaimed.  Sweet guy.

This rock formation was just perfect to frame a bride and groom.  Isn't her dress just gorgeous?

Guests braved the rain and travelled in a caravan of golf carts to the Panoramic View, a grand home at the highest point on the island for a fantastic dinner including locally caught grouper and lobster.

The cake was decorated with frosting shells and coral... delicious!

GDWcaketable.jpg
Denise was a radiant, beautiful bride.  She is a sweet soul and a perfect match for Gregg.  This is a couple full of life, laughs and love.

GDWdance.jpg
It was St. Patrick's Day, and the guests consisting of 30 friends and family danced into the night.

and this is how every island wedding should end...

Cheers, Denise & Gregg!  To a long & happy life together!
